Immortal (A Novel of the Fallen Angels Book 6)

I’ll never dislike a book from JR Ward, this is no different
The way she writes, the character development, the sense of impending doom and the feeling of victory are all so tangible in the stories she writes. This book is no different. Always highly recommend.
The End
Okay, the battle between good and evil is over. I wasn’t sure which way it would go at times. Jim and Devina were foes from the start. She was quite delusional about their relationship, which worked in Jim’s favor a few times. There were some small crossovers into the BDB world and I expected something more than the brief mention of someone at the end if this book. I don’t know why, but I could have sworn there had been talk of someone from the BDB meeting with Devina, but that never happened. I’m glad I read this series, because I got insight into Devina.
Great series
I loved this book. I loved this series. I loved all the characters, even Devina. The plots were unpredictable and brilliant. I am NOT a religious person in any way, to the point I think religion is the root of all the evil deeds done by mankind. So, for me to be so engrossed, touched, and excited about this series is a miracle in itself. I almost feel inspired to dispose of my "I Hate People" mug. I still think organized religion is scary wrong on so many levels, however, I was not put off in any way by the Creator talk and all that went with it because the characters and plots were written so brilliantly and real that I'm thankful that I didn't prejudge the premise of the series as something I wouldn't like. This final book was ingenious but I still haven't decided if I liked the very end. Maybe because it was "the end". I wanted some Lassiter. He was mentioned but I didn't get even a glimpse, so I'm pouting about that. Don't shy away from this series because it has Creator and Demon/Hell/saving souls talk. It's so not about religion. It's about being a good, not perfect, human being. It's about choices we make and the fact that nobody gets through life without a few skeletons hanging around in their closet, but that doesn't mean we're bad. Just humans with some flaws. It's the decisions we ultimately make on important issues that define us, not the mistakes we've made during our journey. Also not being a self righteous prude doesn't mean you're a bad person that isn't worthy of happiness and peace. It just means you're human.
Another hit to the Fallen Angel Series you won't want to miss
This is the one book in the series you don't want to miss. If you have read any of J.R. Wards other books you will enjoy this series just as much. It would be best to read them in order so you don't miss the theme of the book & learn the characters. In this book you will get some resolution to what happens to Sissy, one of the characters from the beginning that came to be well known in the third chapter of the series. I don't want to spoil this book for anyone else so I won't say much on the storyline other than its fitting to the series as a whole. Jim is a strong male character who has a tall order to fill. He has to try to win the war against evil played by a demon named Devina. If she wins then she will be able to takeover earth & heaven to torture as she sees fit. Basically if she wins then everyone will go to hell whether there good or evil. Jim has to save humanity from themselves while battling his own inner demons. There are lots of great characters in the series. Sacrifices are made by each to try & help Jim save the world. The bottom line is Jim has to win! As you read the series you will find we all can relate to & understand his constant struggle with his own humanity. The plot, the storyline, & the characters are well developed & this series is another hit by J.R. Ward that is well worth reading. Just be prepared to be up late nights & to not get much sleep because like J.R. Wards other books you won't want to put it down for much.
Best ending EVER
I've enjoyed every book that JR Ward has written, either writing as JR Ward or as Jessica Bird. She has a great eye for a plot twist and detail that keeps the reader engrossed in the story line that makes you WANT to buy the next book in the series because you HAVE to know what happens next. I've really loved the Fallen Angels story line, the fight between good and evil, with the Angels themselves being so human themselves - not perfect, 50% good, 50% evil, but with love, hate, goodwill, regrets and pulled in all directions about how they can pull off their missions and save the human race from the evil demon, Devina....who is one crazy broad. Devina, now she is an interesting character - a more interesting villain I've never met before. OCD, convinced that the hero is the love of her life and in love with her, seeing a therapist for her OCD and other mental issues, yep, never met a villain like Devina before. Some folks that are used to a story line that is linear might have a hard time getting used to following how JR Ward puts together her story line how it follows one person one chapter, jumps to another, then another...but eventually they all collide toward the end of the book. Hang in there thru all the books - - - the one big, major endorsement I will give this book, it has the best ending I have every read of any book ever. I was in tears as I read it.
... so can I say other than this is a perfect book. I just finished all of the books ...
Wh at so can I say other than this is a perfect book. I just finished all of the books and all I can say is wow. I absolutely love this author ever since I read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series I was excited to read The Fallen Angel series. I was not disappointed. When I read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series I was in morning because I had finished all the books and didn't have anything that matched what this author was able to put into each one of her characters. I just love how each character has their own personalities and that they are so well descriptive and how raw and eDgy all of them are. I definitely think that the more realistic she is with the characters the more they seem real. Everything to their individual thoughts and actions keeps you turning the page. You can definitely capture the passion she has for each one of her characters in this book as well as all of her books I love how there love interests Are so very passionate and grounding. Loved these books. .. loved loved these books. if you have not read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series you should really really start it's one of the best series I've ever read and through all the books that I read including the fallEnangels series I still to this day compare every book to the standards set. when I got done reading this one I just had to put the book down and take a deep breath I was just blown away it was amazing.
Amazing Final Battle
Immortal is the final book of J.R. Ward's Fallen Angels series. As the final battle of good and evil comes which will prevail? Devina has won 3 rounds and Jim has won 3. When the final round starts who is the soul that needs saving? Will Jim, Adrian, Eddie and Sissy be able to stop evil from taking over Heaven and Earth? The twist and turns, the evil paths, the heartache and pain, the friendships, love, goodness, sacrifices and trust abound in the last book. This series has turned into an amazing set of characters and choices. I can't wait to see hire the crossover with the BDB series turns out.
Good ending to the series
If it's JR Ward it has to be good. I had no idea this was going to be the end of this series and I am sad about that. This book is a little different from the rest of the series in that doesn't center around one couple as a romance. The romance is there between Sissy and Jim but I definitely would not recommend this as a stand alone novel. The series should be read in order. This is the culmination of Jim's obsession with Sissy that has been a thread throughout much of the series. The potential love interest between them has been a continuing theme. The war wraps up and there are some surprises at the end. Devina is my favorite villain of all time. She is hilarious. In this installment though she sort of becomes Devina-lite, becoming more sympathetic and more human. Adrian is my favorite angel and I really thought things were going to happen between him and Eddie. That is a feeling I got from prior books. It looks like they may be featured in future BDB books so who knows what will happen.
Boring
This review contains minor spoilers. 2 ½ stars but I can't bring myself to round up. Immortal was hard to rate. On the one hand, I was interested in pieces of the story that wrapped things up; but on the other, for the most part I found it B.O.R.I.N.G. Most of this installment features Jim and Sissy and I found their romance incredibly underwhelming. The first time they’re intimate, Jim panics that he might…I don’t know what, physically “hurt” or shock her with his manly …intensity ….and runs away. I mean , it’s not like he was hankering for some S&M and wanted to beat her and choke her out…so I don’t know what his problem was…but I’m pretty sure, given that she was IN HELL, he can forget the shock factor. I think I was close to half was through this installment when I realized that the reason, I wasn't being introduced to the new soul on deck for this round was because Jim and Sissy ARE the final 2 souls. I wasn’t very impressed with Devina in this installment either. As a demon, she really sucks. Somewhere along the line the source of all evil, became a whiny, lovesick mean girl. I mean, I know this isn’t a realistic series by any stretch of the imagination – but the evolution of Devina’s character was ridiculous. I did like the way Immortal wraps things up in a feel good, happy ending sort of way. It was incredibly sappy, but I confess I did like it. I’m also on board with the BDB reference/spoiler. Turns out the Creator is already moving on from his little soul experiment; and is now setting his sights on the fallen angel Lassiter – and who better to task with rounding him up then Adrian and…wait for it… BIG SPOILER… Eddie.
A good ending to the battle between Devina and Jim!
I wouldn't say this is the best book so far, but it was a good way to end the final two rounds of the competition for Jim. In this book Devina and Jim go head to head and Sissy is caught between the two. Devina is convinced that she and Jim are destined to be together and that he loves her, while Jim is falling deeper and deeper in love with Sissy. Meanwhile Heaven is a mess, with Colin trying to get past Nigel's betrayal and no one overseeing things from up there. Jim takes a crazy chance by visiting Purgatory and retrieving Nigel and then asking for Eddie to be returned for the final round. Both are back and on the field for the last round, and Sissy joins the fight when she realizes who the final soul is. I won't give away too many details, you'll want to read it for yourself! There's a brief build up to the next book which will have Eddie and Adrian as the lead characters as they take on their next mission.
